What is Crafty Little Devils?
Crafty Little Devils is a paint your own pottery studio located on Wallsend High Street not far from Newcastle City Centre and Segedunum Roman Fort. The idea of a paint your own pottery studio, or ceramic cafe as they are also known, is that customers come in and purchase a piece of bisque which they then sit down and decorate in the comfort of the studio.

Idea tiles are hung all around the studio to help and inspire you.
What is Bisque?
Bisque is the term used to describe once fired, undecorated pottery. It is also referred to as whiteware. To see our range of bisque please click on the POTTERY AND PRICES tabs. This range changes seasonally so we only show our base range here. There are loads of other products to choose from in house.

Tuition is absolutely free at Crafty Little Devils
What do I use to decorate the Bisque?
We offer two alternatives for how to decorate your piece. The first is GLAZING (recommended) which is where the bisque is decorated using our coloured glazes. When complete, the decorated piece is fired in our kiln which turns the glaze into a glass finish. This makes for a high quality finish which also makes kitchenware foodsafe. If you decide to decorate your piece using the GLAZING method please note that you will need to return 5 days later to collect your finished piece. This is due to the cycle time for the finishing dip glaze to become completely dry before firing in the kiln and also the time it takes for the kiln to bake your piece.

You can get some great effects from the simplest techniques
If you want to take your piece of art away with you straight away then we offer an exciting range of acrylic paints which do not require firing. After you have finished decorating your piece it will be given a coat of sealant which dries in approximately an hour which means that you will be able to MAKE AND TAKE your product on the same day. Please note that the acrylic finish is not suitable for products that will be used with food e.g. plates, cups, bowls etc. as the finish is semi-permanent and not foodsafe.
How come your products are so much cheaper than the same products at other ceramic studios?
Crafty Little Devils is a member of the THE GUILD OF CERAMIC STUDIOS which entitles them to massively discounted bisque products. The owner decided that these savings should be passed on to all customers as it is in the principles of Crafty Little Devils to create a warm, safe environment for families to enjoy together. These huge savings allow families to come in and afford to decorate a piece each without breaking the bank.
